Funko - Die Geschichte
Alles begann 1998 als Funko von Mike Becker gegründet wurde und mit den ersten Wackelkopf Figuren (Wacky Wobblers) versuchte den Markt zu erobern. Die erste Freddy Funko Figur erblickte im Jahr 2002 das Tageslicht und ein Jahr drauf wurde das dazu passende Forum FunkoFunatic.com veröffentlicht. In diesem Forum konnten sich alle Fans und Sammler über die neuen Collectibles austauschen.
Im Jahr 2005 verkaufte Becker das Unternehmen an seinen Freund und Sammler Mariotti. Unter dessen Leitung wurde 2009 die Produktlinie The Funko Force und 2010 Funko Force 2.0 veröffentlicht. Im Jahr 2011 wurden dann die heute weltweit bekannten POP! Figuren das erste mal vorgestellt und sind bis heute eine der erfolgreichsten Produktserien auf dem Pop Culture Markt.
Funko POP! Figuren
Die beliebten Vinylfiguren sind in der Regel 9 cm (Standard) oder 15 cm (Oversize) groß und besitzen alle den selben Stil (kleiner Körper, großer Kopf). Veröffentlicht werden diese Pops zu Filmen, Serien, Spielen, Animes oder Persönlichkeiten. Zu den erfolgreichsten Lizenzen zählen Harry Potter, Star Wars oder Game of Thrones.
